NEW AMIC REINSTATEMENT AND REDUCED FEES POLICIES
New policies for reinstatement and reduced fees were approved at the June 12, 1999 Board meeting. For your information these policies are listed below.
REINSTATEMENT POLICY
For information AMIC By-law #1 dealing with nonpayment of fees and reinstatement is provided below:
Persons whose dues, fees, levies or assessments, are not paid within ninety (90) days after the date when they become due and payable shall automatically be suspended and if not paid within an additional thirty (30) days after suspension, shall cease to be members and their names shall be removed from the register of members. The former members must surrender any certificates of designation of Chartered Arbitrator (Arbitre Certifié) or Chartered Mediator (Médiateur Certifié/Médiatrice Certifiée) held by them.
Related Board Motion
Moved and seconded that certified fees are due and payable on January 1st of each year. Invoices for certified fees are sent out in late November. Outstanding certified accounts receive a reminder notice at the end of January. At the end of 60 days they receive a letter of warning of suspension if the account is not paid up in full prior to March 31. If the account is not paid at March 31 the member loses the right to use the certified designation and must return the certificate.

Any former member who wishes to be reinstated must apply to the Institute for reinstatement and pay the required dues and reinstatement fees. Such persons may be reinstated by the Board on such terms as the Board may from time to time determine.

The AMIC By-law provides for a Retired Membership category.
Retired Member:
Retired member status is for those persons who have been involved in arbitration or mediation but no longer perform any arbitration or mediation related functions but who wish to remain involved in a Regional Association. This status may be conferred by the Institute upon any member who has applied for and complied with the requirements of status.
