MEMBERSHIP IN A.M.I.M.

MEMBERSHIP POLICY:
Members are individuals who are elected by the Arbitration and Mediation Institute of Manitoba Inc., and are either engaged in arbitration and mediation or are interested in pursuing the profession.

MISSION STATEMENT:
Membership in the Arbitration and Mediation Institute of Manitoba Inc. not only enhances the public perception of the individual or company but also provides the opportunity for a wide range of professional contacts and career growth.

MEMBERSHIP:
In joining the Arbitration and Mediation Institute of Manitoba, Individual Members also become members of the ADR Institute of Canada, Inc. As a member of the national organization you, of course, are entitled to the services which they offer.

Currently (as of August 10, 2000), A.M.I.M. has three membership categories, Individual, Student, and Affiliate. This may be changing as a result of recent changes made at the national level. Such changes, if they occur at the regional level, will not take effect until the new year.

The membership year is January 1st to December 31st.

The membership fees themselves are prorated during the year according to the following timetable:

Full fees to June 30
75% to Sept.30
50% after Sept.30

* The one time administration fee for new members is $50.00, and is not prorated during the year.

* * Members whose membership dues, in full, have not been received by March 31st of the membership year will be removed from the membership list. After the end of the year in which the membership lapsed, a new application for memberbship will have to be submitted with all applicable fees.

Cheques should be made payable to: Arbitration and Mediation Institute of Manitoba Inc.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES AND WHAT THEY MEAN

Individual Member

The Individual Member is a person who wishes to be identified and recognized for their personal capacity as a member.

The Individual Member is entitled to all rights, privileges and services which pertain to the Institute such as:

  1.   Newsletters
  2.   Information on Arbitration and Mediation
  3.   Participation in the Institute Activities
  4.   Reduced Fees for Seminars
  5.   Referral Services (for those who have completed sufficient relevant training)
  6.   Such other benefits as AMIM and ADRIC (formerly AMIC and CFDR) procure for their members
  7.   Voting Privileges
  8.   Hold Office

Student Member

The Student Member is a person who is involved full-time in a course of study as documented by the institution attended by the student. This includes those who are enrolled at a post-secondary institution as well as articling students and students-at-law.

The Student Member is entitled to all rights, privileges and services of the A.M.I.M. Except the right to hold office and voting privileges.

Affiliate Member

The Affiliate Member is an organization whose interests are compatible with those of the A.M.I.M.

The Affiliate Member is entitled to appoint one person to be the Affiliate Member Representative. The Affiliate Member is entitled to all rights, privileges and services which pertain to the Institute except the right to vote or hold office.
