Mona Brown, B.A., LL.B., C. Arb., is a partner at the Carman Law Firm of McCarthy & Brown. She obtained her Chartered Arbitrator status in 1995 and has taken courses in mediation. She has arbitrated many disputes in a variety of fields and is currently on the Arbitration Roster for the Custom & Revenue Agency (Canada) and Parks Canada and is an arbitrator with Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services (unjust dismissal, Canada labour code matters, payment for wages matters). She is a legal chair of the Canada Pension Plan Review Tribunal (Manitoba) 1998 - present. She has some mediation experience. She practices farm tax planning; will, estates and trust law; family law; agricultural and corporate law. She has written two reports analyzing Manitoba Laws for charter compliance. She has also authored studies in gender bias in the courts and has formerly been a Law Society Bencher, Chair of the Federal Judicial Selection Committee, The Dream team - Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature Building Fund Committee, and a board member of the Arbitration and Mediation Institute of Manitoba, and a member of the Canadian Bar Association National Wills and Trusts Executive.
Currently she is on the Manitoba Bar Council, legal columnist Grainews magazine and numerous other charitable and political endeavors. She and her husband operate an active grain farm and have two teenage children.
